Wheel-Lift

Wheel-lift towing. Tight spaces. Fast turnarounds.

When you need to pull a standard sedan out of a narrow Cabbagetown side street or a packed MARTA station lot, a wheel-lift truck can be the right tool. Smaller footprint than a flatbed, faster hook-up on many cars, and the assigned operator confirms whether that method is safe for your drivetrain. Ask whether the assigned operator has a hydraulic wheel lift for sedans, trucks and SUVs when the vehicle’s weight and drivetrain fit that truck.

What's included in wheel-lift towing?

  • Hydraulic wheel-lift on compact tow trucks when that's the assigned rig
  • Front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive vehicles when the manufacturer allows two-wheel towing
  • Narrow in-town side streets, alley positions, and tight apartment-lot access when the operator can fit
  • Hook-ups once the operator is on scene; duration depends on the car and access
  • Short-distance transport quoted to a shop, dealer, or home you name; the drop is a separate quote
  • Jump-start-and-tow combos only when the operator can do both on that call
  • Repossession and court-ordered transport only with the paperwork the operator can accept
  • Backup when a full-size flatbed can't fit the space

When do you need wheel-lift towing?

  • Your vehicle is a standard FWD or RWD sedan (not AWD, not EV)
  • You are parked on a narrow Atlanta side street or in a tight lot
  • You need a fast, short-distance move to a shop
  • Battery is dead and you need both a jump and a tow
  • Sedan can't roll because of transmission or brake lock
  • Tight lot where a full-size flatbed can't maneuver

What do drivers ask about wheel-lift towing?

What is wheel-lift towing?

A wheel-lift truck has a metal yoke that slides under the drive wheels and lifts only that end of your vehicle off the ground, the other end rolls on its own wheels. It is faster than a flatbed and fits into tight streets and lots where a flatbed cannot.

Is wheel-lift safe for my car?

For many standard FWD or RWD sedans, a wheel lift is an accepted method. For AWD, 4WD or an EV, check the owner's manual first. Dragging drive wheels can damage a transfer case or motor on some vehicles, but that isn't a universal rule for every drivetrain. If you're unsure, give year, make and model when you call.

Can you fit onto a narrow Cabbagetown or Grant Park street?

Often yes. Wheel-lift trucks are commonly used on narrow streets, short alleys and tight courtyard entrances. Text a photo of the street or entrance when you call so the operator can confirm access before dispatch. Some of the tightest blocks require working from the nearest cross street.

How much does wheel-lift towing cost?

Wheel-lift tows are quoted before dispatch, based on distance. You get the full number before dispatch. There is no published range on this site.

Will you jump start and then tow if the car won't run?

Ask when you call. Some operators can jump the battery and, if the car still won't hold a charge, load it. Those are two different jobs and they're quoted separately unless the operator says otherwise. We can't promise that a jump-plus-tow is always one combined price.
